Partners of the law firm David Soukeník and Peter Štrpka, together with senior lawyer Lukáš Štefánik, contributed a specialist article to the international publication Disputes Yearbook 2023, which focuses on current topics in dispute resolution and arbitration proceedings.
In their article, the authors examine the practical importance of meetings between experts appointed by the respective parties to a dispute. In more complex arbitration proceedings, expert reports often play a key role; however, their scope and differing expert conclusions may lead to delays in the proceedings and increased costs.
The authors therefore point out that properly prepared and procedurally well-managed meetings between experts can help narrow the issues in dispute, clarify differences in expert views and contribute to a more efficient taking of evidence. Particular attention is also paid to the preparation of experts, the scope of their mutual communication, the format of such meetings and the significance of joint expert statements for the further course of arbitration proceedings.
